God of War 3 Impression

Few games are as anticipated as God of War 3. Let’s face it. God of War is one of the last big PS3 exclusives.
When God of War came out years ago, I wasn’t very interested. I’d heard good things about it, but I passed. And then it went on sale for 10 bucks on Amazon, and I got it on a whim. I immediately became hooked on the story of Kratos, and I’m eagerly waiting on its dramatic conclusion.
Let’s start with the good. It plays exactly like a better version of the previous games. The controls are tighter, and the enemy animations are more detailed.
And that’s where things start getting a bit too much. Disemboweling a monster was never a big deal on the PS2, but now that they’ve got so much detail that you actually see entrails spilling out, it can make it harder to take in large volume. This is something that I never anticipated; that increased graphic potential would actually negatively impact a game.
But this is not the first extremely violent game I’ve played. Bioshock pushed my limits for violence too, and it’s a wonderful game. I fully plan on finishing the fight for Kratos, and I will do so as soon as possible.
